"Hungry For The Real"
by Nate Hov
A recent visitor to my blog wrote, "There are so many
worthwhile and equally useless sites out there, and I
stumbled across this site and must say this was a
really nice coincidence (?)… I LOVE Linkin Park -
since Meteora have used their music as outlet and
“reach out” and when “What I’ve done came out” - it
was as though I could finally express my shame, guilt,
etc. through the song, and in a sense make sense about
my actions, my f-ups, try find redemption, try find
spirituality, find me. And that’s part of the reason
why I was so pleasantly surprised by this site - you
don’t deem to judge me cause I listen to typical rock
(angry rock) and see this as anti-religious, but
actually take the effort to delve into the lyrics,
find the meaning behind the music. I’ll pop back to
this site again, and thanx! Maybe, mercy will come for
me too?
I seem to be a part of the well to known Gen-X clan
though I am now almost 34 years old. We have been
responsible for changing the face of a nation stifled
by properness and pleasantries, we have looked out
over the vast desserts of society and claimed status
quo is not good enough. Weather they see us as
slack-assed rebels or see us at all. We don't accept
the burdens of the last generation. The faith and its
cold dead religion is changing as well. We don't want
religion with its properness and it's unscathed hands
cleanly put in place morality that says everything is
in black and white. Our generation has had to deal
with much more than any generation before. Violence
invades out eyes daily, both in foreign lands and at
home, Pandemics plague our worlds, poverty claims our
lives and purity even from our leaders is all but
gone. Our generation groans for the real. In both the
world and in faith we are growning for the real. We no
longer want to hide under the covers but expose the
wrongs we feel. I no longer want to hold a cold dead
religion limp as a child dying of aids in its mother’s
arms. The word says our generation groans.
Why should we have to remind our selves that Jesus
although a priest by right choose to eat with the
lowly sinners, the outcast, and the hungry of the
real. He didn't say go and wash them we'll talk. I
hate to say it but many embrace religion and it's
regulations and forget about the human element that
"All have fallen short."
Nathan is currently working on a manuscript titled Running to stand still © Nathan Hov – 2007 it is a memoir of his struggles as he left religion “a system of beliefs” to embrace the relational savior and reflects upon his battles between darkness and light, sexual temptation, disheartening challenges and grace. “Nathan presents Running to stand still with truth and depth while offering challenging insights”.
